BIO
Ruth King is a one-woman instrument --- her voice and music charged with passion and intensity for one cause -- The Blues. She immediately commands the attention of her audience with the virtuoso of a musician who has mastered all styles of adult contemporary -- whether it be jazz, blues, R&B, or her own style of acoustic rhythm and blues. Allowing her energy to radiate from within, this musician’s authoritative style can raise a crowd to their feet, or electrify the room with her sensual energy. Her original songwriting is filled with power.
Her four albums of original music are strong and resonant, soulful and heartfelt, with the clean strings of her guitar punctuating her soaring and throaty tones. As a performer, Miss King headlined for various music legends including the Little River Band, the Rippingtons, Kenny Rankin. She has performed at Vizcaya and other hotspots around the country and for national music festival and college tours. Ruth King has made her living as a musical artist all her life. Her early career began with Trace Balin, which established her as a songwriter and music publisher. On the multinational scene, her music, published through His Promise Music (BMI) has reached 11+ countries, including Switzerland, Japan, the United Kingdom, Switzerland, South Africa, Holland, Germany, Sweden, Canada, Taiwan and Hong Kong. Miss King was educated at Florida State in Tallahassee on scholarship. In the 1970’s she performed in a play written by Allan Ball (6 Feet Under, American Beauty), Nancy Oliver and Gregory Bergeron. Her original talent electrifies the stage again today, with her versatile style of jazzy, snappy, soulful and bluesy tunes from her soon-to-be released album, "Ain't Gonna Feel Bad About It". Whether she’s picking, strumming, or singing her heart out, this veteran of the stage commands the limelight.
